Terms of Service

The agreement between you and port22. Plain language where possible, and short enough to actually read.

01What these terms cover

port22 comes in two halves, and they are licensed differently.

The iOS app

The port22 iPhone app is licensed to you under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, the standard EULA that applies to apps distributed through the App Store. We do not impose separate terms on it.

Everything else

The port22 Mac agent, the optional connection relay, and this website are not distributed through the App Store, so Apple's EULA does not apply to them. They are covered by the terms on this page (together, the Service). By installing or using them, you accept these terms.

Short version: Apple's EULA governs the phone app. This page governs the Mac agent, the relay, and this site.

02What port22 does

port22 is a remote control. It lets you view and drive AI coding agents that you have already installed on your own Mac — such as Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, or Aider — from your iPhone, over your local network or through an end-to-end encrypted relay.

port22 does not supply the agents, the models, or the API access behind them. You bring your own tools, your own accounts, and your own keys.

03Licence

We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable licence to install and use the Mac agent on Macs you own or control, and to use the relay and this website as intended.

You may not:

Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service, except where that restriction is unenforceable by law
Rent, lease, sell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service
Remove or obscure any proprietary notices
Use the Service to build a competing product

04Your responsibilities

A coding agent can create, modify, and delete files, run shell commands, and make network requests on your Mac. port22 gives you a way to approve or decline those actions from your phone — but the decision, and its consequences, are yours.

You are responsible for:

Keeping your pairing code private and your paired devices under your control
Reviewing what an agent proposes before you approve it
Backing up your work and using version control
Complying with the terms of the agents and model providers you connect to
Using the Service lawfully, and only on machines and code you are authorised to access

Approving an action on your phone runs it on your Mac. Treat the approve button the way you would treat your own terminal.

05Third-party agents and services

When you send a prompt through port22, it is executed by an agent on your Mac and may be transmitted to that agent's provider under that provider's own terms and privacy policy. We are not a party to that relationship and are not responsible for those services, their output, their availability, or their pricing. You must comply with any applicable third-party terms.

06AI output

Output produced by AI agents can be wrong, insecure, or misleading, and it may look confident while being neither. The Service is a viewer and a remote — it does not validate, verify, or vouch for anything an agent produces. Do not rely on agent output without reviewing it.

07Privacy

port22 has no accounts and collects no personal data. Your code, prompts, and transcripts stay between your own devices; when the relay is used, payloads are end-to-end encrypted and the relay sees only ciphertext. See the Privacy Policy for the full detail.

08Availability and changes

We may update, change, or discontinue any part of the Service — including the relay — at any time. The relay is offered on a best-effort basis with no uptime commitment; local network control does not depend on it. We may update these terms, and material changes will be posted here with a new date.

09Warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this may not apply to you.

10Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for lost profits, lost data, corrupted or deleted files, or business interruption, arising out of your use of the Service — including actions taken by an AI agent that you approved. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or USD 50.

11Export compliance

The Mac agent contains cryptographic functionality and is downloaded from this site. You may not use or export it in violation of applicable export control laws. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

12Termination

This licence ends if you stop using the Service or breach these terms. You can end it at any time by removing the Mac agent. The warranty and liability sections survive termination.
